== SEIUNKAN Philosophy ==

Our farm Guest House Seiunkan, is not just a place to stay overnight, but a rare opportunity to experience and understand a real Japanese woodland & countryside lifestyle. It is a great place for an international cultural exchange and mutual exchange of ideas. When visiting Seiunkan, you get an opportunity to relax & unwind while enjoying a Japanese-styled hospitality.

The following is a comprehensive breakdown of Seiunkan philosophy & concepts that we firmly believe in and stand by:

  1. Using locally sourced ingredients & produce for local consumption
    2. Teaching about agricultural work: cultivation, harvest & cooking
    3. Food education: Slow Food (food that is produced or prepared in accordance with local culinary traditions, typically using high-quality locally sourced ingredients),
    4. Landscape conservation and environmental protection
    5. Education about native local history: tradition, culture and folk art.
    6. International cultural exchange, mutual exchange of ideas and cultural norms
  2. AIR (Art-In-Residence) concepts: music, culture and tradition
  3. New job creation & support for young people to come and live in the area
  4. Supporting regional community business model & regional methods of payment
  5. Helping with place branding (PB) development and regional economic development strategies in the local community
  6. Supporting Chikuma Wine Valley & other local wineries
  7. Welcoming overseas guests who are looking for a relaxed and calm atmosphere away from hectic big cities and like to show support for local communities
  8. Teaching visitors about economy & rehabilitation of an abandoned old farm house
  9. Trying to create a sustainable system for 20-30 years ahead.
  10. Sharing older adults’ wisdom, experience and legacy with the next young generation and local society.
